Crack addicts and other drug addicts may use drugs many times a day. Yet, most everyone talks many times an hour.
Drug addicts, when trying to overcome their addictions, may go a week without taking drugs. Who goes a week without talking?
Proverbs 10:19 KJV
[19] In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
Talking a lot will always involve sinning.
James 3:2 KJV
[2] For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
The one who bridles the tongue--which includes talking much less--will also be able to restrain their whole body. They will be able to bridle what they put in their mouth and what they look at, for example.
If someone overcomes the talking addiction, they will have developed strengths and abilities to overcome lesser addictions. All other addictions are lesser than the talking addiction.
Do those seeking and striving to overcome their addictions realize that the starting point is attacking the talking addiction?
