Why God commands praise.

Psalm 68:19 KJV

[19] Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Bless = to praise highly. Praise = to express approval.

People typically approve of things they benefit from. In the Bible, praise and benefit go together. So when God says to praise him, He is saying to benefit from all the many riches He is willing to bestow on you.

Contrast this with the beliefs of most people about praising God.

“[God is a] cosmic ego-maniac who sits around all day hoping that some puny race on an obscure planet wants to [flatter him].”

“What a petty obsession for someone who created “billions and billions” of galaxies!!!...

…Do you really need to be constantly re-assured by a bunch of puny mortals????”
