Why do you go to church and how do you choose a church?
“Our friends go there and we love the ‘fellowship.’” (Social club?)
“I am always inspired by the preaching.” (Which usually means the preaching fills me with pleasant emotions.)
These are not biblical reasons to attend church assemblies or for choosing a church to belong to.
A couple of biblical reasons are
to exhort others to holiness.
Hebrews 10:24-25 KJV
[24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
[25] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
to edify and be edified by other Christians. That is, to contribute to each other’s becoming more and more like Christ.
1 Corinthians 14:12,26 KJV
[12] Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
[26] How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
