What do you suppose cleansing looks like?

author

1 John 1:9 KJV

[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If you spill juice on the floor, it is quick and easy to clean it off the floor. Other things, like tar, are not removed so easily. It might take harsh scrubbing to get it off.

So it is with sins. Some are cleansed from your life quickly and easily, without much pain and sacrifice. However, you may require harsh treatment to stop other sins.

Hebrews 12:11 KJV

[11] Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Either way, once you confess your sins, God will not only forgive you, but cleanse you as well, if you are a child of God. He will not stop the cleansing process until you are clean. God made that promise in this verse. God will be as gentle as possible, but he will get the job done.
