Psalm 62:5 KJV

[5] My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Waiting on God is commanded often, but what is it?

According to dictionaries, to wait means

To look forward to eagerly:

To remain or rest in expectation:

for example, waiting for the guests to arrive.

To remain or be in readiness:

You could be doing nothing while waiting or be really busy. For example, while waiting for your guests to arrive,

You could be sitting on the couch doing nothing.

You could be sitting on the couch watching TV.

You could be really busy washing the car.

Waiting on God simply means to be expecting Him to do something and being ready for it.
