James 1:14-15 KJV
[14] But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
[15] Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Continual, habitual sinning is like being pregnant. Lust conceives. The fetus is sin. Sinning leads to more sinning; the fetus gets bigger and bigger. It is gradual, and you can see yourself getting worse and worse. Eventually sinning will kill you.
1 Corinthians 11:29-31 KJV
[29] For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
[30] For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
[31] For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
Weak, sickly, dead ("sleep").
Church prayer lists are filled with sick people. I wonder how many would get well, if they would stop sinning a particular, habitual sin. Do churches ever ask this question?
