Meekness.4. The meek inherit the earth.

author

Matthew 5:5 KJV

[5] Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:11 KJV

[11] But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

The meek in Christ enjoy the temporal, before-dying pleasures and benefits of this life on earth.

Meek people get abused. How are they going to get what they need? What they desire? God takes care of it. And much better than they ever could. Therefore, they enjoy the blessings in this life on earth more than others.

“They are blessed, for they have the most comfortable, undisturbed enjoyment of themselves, their friends, their God; they are fit for any relation, and condition, any company; fit to live, and fit to die.”

“Meekness, however ridiculed and run down, has a real tendency to promote our health, wealth, comfort, and safety, even in this world. The meek and quiet are observed to live the most easy lives, compared with the froward and turbulent.”

MATTHEW HENRY’S COMMENTARY

The meek enjoy this life on earth, be it a lot or little. On the other hand, most people have difficulty enjoying life, no matter what or how much they have. The meek are able to enjoy most anything and everything.

Psalm 22:26A KJV

[26] The meek shall eat and be satisfied:

Philippians 4:11-12 KJV

[11] Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

[12] I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Ecclesiastes 12:1 KJV

[1] Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
