Enjoy earthly enjoyments.

God created many things for people's enjoyment in this earthly life we live now. Food, for example. God could have created only one food, with no taste at all. That is what He did with the air. We must breathe air to survive, but it has no smell or taste. When God forced the Israelites to eat manna, He almost did that. It had some taste, but they ate the same food every meal, year after year. No variety.

Ecclesiastes 2:24 KJV

[24] There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 KJV

[1] There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men:

[2] A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to [enjoy] thereof, but a stranger [enjoys] it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

1 Timothy 6:17 KJV

[17] Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

We are to enjoy intensely the many things God has given for us to enjoy. But we must stop at that. We must enjoy without much desire. If we have these things, great. If not, no big deal.

Philippians 4:11-12 KJV

[11] Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

[12] I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

And we certainly must not worship these things.

Philippians 3:18-19 KJV

[18] (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

[19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
