Disagreement.

Acts 15:2,6-7A NKJV

[2] Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question.

[6] Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter.

[7] And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them:

Because of this disagreement and the leaders' handling of it, the new Gentile churches avoided following erroneous teaching. Many have greatly benefited from this, including us today.

These days most people despise and avoid disagreement. However, disagreement is an effective way for all to grow in knowledge and understanding of the Bible. It must be expressed and handled biblically. But disagreement must be sought out, not repressed. (Of course, all parties must love the truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:10B KJV

[10] they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.)

Since no one fully knows and understands the whole Bible, it is normal and healthy that Christians disagree about many matters. God has given understanding of some things to one that he has not given to another and vice versa. As a result, they may disagree with each other. However, through their disagreement and discussion of it, God may increase both of their understandings of the Bible. And their holiness. Typically when people disagree, they are all right about some things and wrong about others. Together they can usually determine the right parts and the wrong parts and come out with something that is a combination of everyone’s thinking.

A friend of mine gave this marriage advice. “Learn to always say, ‘Yes,’ to your wife, because it is less challenging and you will have fewer conflicts.”

Familiar?

Genesis 3:6B KJV

[6] she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
