Many Bible teachers teach the Bible accurately, but do not explain it. They use words that can have a variety of meanings, but do not tell the listeners what they mean. So people take away all sorts of meanings, mostly wrong ones.
Here are a few examples of words and expressions that Bible teachers say all the time, but almost never explain.
Christ. Do they ever say what it means that Jesus is the Christ? Many believe "Christ" is Jesus' last name.
Freedom in Christ. Freedom from what? Sometimes they will say, “freedom from sin.” But that is like telling a child, “freedom from ice cream.” People love to sin, and they hate righteousness (until they get saved). People go away disgusted. So they must be told why they must be free from sin. Or they are told "freedom from the Law." So they believe they are not required to obey God.
God’s grace. “Grace” means “gifts.” Things given, not because the person has earned or deserved anything, but because God chooses to. This much is usually explained, but they often do not say, specifically, what those gifts are. So people imagine them to be all kinds of things. Yet the Bible specifies the gifts God gives.
Matthew 13:19 KJV
[19] When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Luke 8:12 KJV
[12] Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
Many people hear the Word of God, but misunderstand it. Consequently, they do not believe what is required to get saved. Bible teachers must make every effort to explain the Bible accurately and clearly, so that people can understand it.
