Belief is involuntary.

author

I will give you $1 million if you will believe in the tooth fairy. No adult could meet that condition. Not even for $1 million. You cannot choose what to believe. You are either convinced or not.

So it makes no sense to tell people to decide to believe in Jesus. Yet people are often told to do this, in order to get saved from God's wrath. The Billy Graham organization has been putting out a magazine called Decision, whose name is based on this practice.

However, it is a decision to objectively consider Christianity or not. To consider all the evidence, both for and against, without bias toward what you desire to be true.

Thank you, Josh S., for these insights.
