Bearing fruit versus gathering fruit.

John 15:1-2 KJV

[1] I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

[2] Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.


Luke 6:44 KJV

[44] For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.


Bearing fruit is one thing. Gathering fruit is another.


You are to bear your own fruit. You gather other people's fruit. You gather fruit to "know" it. That is, to taste and eat it. To experience it.


For example, the fruit of the Spirit.


Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

[23] Meekness, temperance: ...


For instance, you could know someone's love, gentleness, meekness.
