Nowadays, in the churches, it seems everything is "awesome, wonderful, amazing!" Nothing is ever "terrible, mediocre, or just average." Nothing is ever "sinful, evil, wicked." Nothing is ever criticized, no matter how deserving it is of criticism.
Criticizing is believed to be bad. Nothing is ever criticized, even if the criticism would help someone improve. Yet criticism is one way God makes His people more like the Lord Jesus.
Psalm 141:5A KJV
[5] Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head:
Proverbs 27:6 KJV
[6] Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
One function of the local churches is for each Christian to help their siblings in Christ become more and more like Jesus. Part of that is pointing out their faults. Often people are not aware of them. Once they know about them, they can correct them.
Paul did this.
1 Corinthians 11:17 KJV
[17] Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
